[--CHAPTER FIVE: JORMUNGANDR--]
[--CHAPTER FIVE: JORMUNGANDR--]
Finished showering, Yato wraps herself in one of the many towels hung across a nearby rack. There is indeed a lot of steam clouding the room, so she can partially understand the Captain's irritation. But that doesn't give him a free pass to walk in on a lady!
Sighing, still flustered by the previous encounter, she strolls out of the bathroom. Feeling more secure with a towel wrapped firmly around her. The lights inside flick off, and the door slips shut. She's back in his bedroom, that dull, empty, bedroom. Couldn't he just, add a few things? It must be awful staring at such an empty room often...
Shigure had placed himself on the edge of his bed, apparently reviewing something on his smart-phone. He seems mildly perturbed - something is bothering him.
Despite her state of dress, Yato approaches him, leaning towards him as if trying to get a glimpse of his phone. "Captain?"
"Yes?"
"Did something happen?"
He slips his phone into his slack's pocket, standing up with an extended sigh.
"Sir has summoned me to Tokyo... Central."
Central - Located in Tokyo. The main hub for everything military and governmental. NDECK-J High command, highest-ranking officers, the R&D departments of military branches. Anything essential to the operation and maintaining of this country's defence, located and bundled there together.
One may think it'd be dangerous to put all their eggs in one basket. However, that is not the case. Security is of utmost priority in Central. Itself is a massive superstructure, reaching just below the clouds, walls thicker than houses themselves.
"Sir..? You mean-?"
"Yes, Brigadier-Marshall Yamamoto."
'Yamamoto' isn't his real name - as is typical with high-ranking officials, nothing is known more than is needed. To Shigure, he is just 'Yamamoto' or 'Sir'. He doesn't need to get in over his head, digging around where he shouldn't. This BMSHL borrows his name from a long since passed Admiral of simpler times. Bestowed upon him as a codename.
It's a surprise to Yato. She knows Shigure lacks an amicable relationship with his commanding officer. She wonders what could cause a summons, at this time no-less.
"Captain, why is Sir calling you to Central?"
He'd already began to pack items and ensure his uniform is up to standard. He'll have to take a military transport Maglev, and he can't afford to be in bad appearance whilst around so many other soldiers - Officers.
There'd certainly be a lot to discuss, if the BMSHL himself had telegraphed him.
"I can only speculate."
He slams his briefcase closed. "Probably not good."
"Keep Kodo squad under reigns whilst I'm absent. I must go."
Before she can send him off, Shigure only walks past her, hurriedly out the room. There's no-way a reason wouldn't be included in the summons. So the Captain must be keeping something from her. Out of will, or orders, she's unsure.
The hallways of the senior officer's dormitory, despite being just that; halls, still have more life than his quarters. Uncertainty covers his face, something has happened - Something involving him directly. The words upon that email brings him a degree of sickness - Nervousness. They must be true, yet, there also must be something beneath the surface.
Thankfully, the Maglev connects directly beneath the dorm, allowing Shigure to waste no time finding transport. Down elevators, through tubular tunnels, onto the carriage. A certain urgency in his pace. He takes his seat amongst other servicemen going about their duties. A few recognise him, chattering about his appearance and stories they've heard. From what he can hear, they seem to be baseless rumours.
His past is... murky, to say the least. Anyone who looks into his record finds it scrambled and lacking sense. Documents saying his was deployed somewhere impossible, strange irrelevant details. It naturally gave birth to stories that spread around base, and the military a whole. Yato is the only one he'd confided in and spoken some truth to. She knows his past, his real assignments and operations, even the age he fatefully joined the military. At least, the past he claims.
But she can never trust what he says - Often times it feels like the truth blended into a concoction of lies and diversions.
Soon, this Maglev will join the country's main lines, aiming for central. With priority, it wont be long until his destination is reached.
