1st chapter Hideki Yonezawa doesn't like English.

Chapter 1 Hideki hates English.

The day after 1st day of fall term Sep 2020

[So Hideki. Do you hate English as your father told me?]

[Yes, I do sir. I hate it, but I don't mean that I hate foreigners. I'd rather like people for example I loved Emily Warsington of Loly Botter when I was an elementary school student and I wondered I'd marry a girl like her because she was speaking in Japanese in the movie]

Even though it was before noon, It was already hot and the sunlight was shining like a hell. The study room where I sit face-to-face with the linguistics professor is turned somewhat comfortable by blinds and air conditioners.

[I see. Then how come you get started to hate English even you don't hate foreigners?]

He looks still being relaxed and asked me that calmly. I still want to escape from this private English lesson so I pick my shameful story collections up from my brain and show him them for killing time.

[At first, It was when I was an elementary school student. I pronounced 11 as Ten One* in the foreign language activity class. When I raised my hand up cheerfully and said it confidently, everyone in the class was cracked up so much. My friends who are in the same boy's soccer club spread the rumor out in the club and they started to make fun of me by calling me Winning Ten One. It's imitating the winning eleven. Do you know that game title?]

[Yeah, I do. Soccer games were also very popular in Netherland where we used to live]

As I confirmed he's still with me, I continue to tell him my stories.

[It was when I was a jr-high student. When I was asked what's your dream in the future, I answered it "salaryman" out loud!]

[Oh yeah. It's a typical Japlish. Then what? Did you get laughed at again?]

[Oh, that's worse. I felt that there were some classmates who were giving a chuckle and the teacher with a disappointed expression at the beginning so I thought that I said something wrong. Then I figured out that was because my pronunciation wasn't like English, so I said it out loud with my tongue twisted again. “Sarrrraryhhh meeeehhn!”]

[Interesting. Then? What happened?]

[Once the class turned silent and someone broke the silence by saying “Leeman shock!”. Then everyone in the class got laugh, even worse a girl said with her pretty voice “Haha, men is plural” and the class couldn't stop laughing at me. Actually, the girl was one who made a move on me one week ago. I answered "Yes, why don't we go out", after my Leemanshock but she said “Sorry, I don't feel like going out with you after all” and rejected me. Do you know why?]

[Why? Well...... She might suppose that she would be made fun of if she would have dated you.]

[Actually, it's wrong. According to the rumor that I heard a few months later or so, the queen bee of my class told her “Doesn't it sound fun making a move on a salaryman?” and then she felt ashamed going out with me. I really regret she might be my first girlfriend]

[Why didn't you say Yes even you were delighted with her move?]

[Oh sir, let's not talk about it, please. It's kinda embarrassing story]

I laughed off the reason why I didn't accept her even I was delighted, scratching my head imitating the Portuguese Barondoll's hairstyle. I keep talking so that I turn the topic back to how I am awful at English.

[Anyway, I have a lot more stories. My classmates say that Even though My name Hideki Yonezawa includes 2 Kanjis which have meanings Britain(Hide) and America(Yone) for short, my English doesn't deserve it. Some guys say that I'm a mystery of Teitou high school. Oh yes! Your daughter saw my embarrassing behavior yesterday, too. She must have thought how embarrassing a boy I am! ]

[Yes, I heard that from her. It will be an unforgettable first transfer day for her. I'd like to know on your position more about what exactly happened yesterday, would you tell me?]

He was seemed to be enjoying our conversation, but once the topic had touched on her beloved daughter, his facial expression turned serious.

[Yes, sir. This story concerns your daughter, so I'm going to tell you only the facts seriously. It happened in the homeroom----]

I changed my behavior from a clown to severe, and I started to talk about my brand new shameful story.

*Notes 11 is called Juhichi in Japanese. Juh means 10 and ichi means 1. The pronunciations of digits are not changed in Japanese so 10 is called Juh, 100 is Hyaku, 1000 is Sen, 10000 is Man. There are some exceptions like 300 SanByaku, but they are not so many comparing European languages.
