第3話 Thank you, Senior

"Alright, let's have him enroll and join Class One. Lin Buyi will be the homeroom teacher since he has the highest mental power among the teachers, making it easier for observation. Does anyone have any other suggestions?" Feng Zikai asked.

The other directors had no further comments.

"That will be all for today. With the new students enrolling, everyone has tasks to handle. Let's adjourn," Feng Zikai concluded.

...

Lin Xiao had no idea that the school held a special meeting due to his mental power. He was eagerly anticipating attending the First Primary Academy the next day, while also pondering if his mental power was due to the array malfunction or his status as a transmigrator. He worried about his identity being exposed, remembering many novels from his past life where transmigrators were hunted by cultivators as otherworldly demons. He certainly didn't want to become a target, so he resolved to hide his true nature.

That night, Lin Xiao sat in the courtyard with his parents, chatting and admiring the moonlight.

"Tomorrow you'll start school. They say that with your physical stats, you can easily awaken a spiritual vein. Make sure to study the basics well," his father said casually.

"Awakening is still three years away," Lin Xiao replied, sensing his parents' reluctance but unsure how to comfort them.

"I once dreamed of becoming a strong cultivator too, but I couldn't awaken a spiritual vein," his father reminisced about his school days.

"I'll definitely become strong and let you enjoy a good life," Lin Xiao promised.

...

In endless daydreams and anticipation, Lin Xiao passed the long, restless day. Early the next morning, he and his father went to the academy gate to check the enrollment list, and Lin Xiao's name was at the top. This meant he was the most outstanding new student and would be a key focus for the academy.

His father quickly took him to the registration desk to complete the enrollment process and receive the academy badge.

After registering, they hurried home. His mother had packed plenty of food and clothing days earlier, worried about Lin Xiao being hungry or cold. At the school gate, his father secretly handed him a small pouch, saying, "This money is for you to buy some good food at the academy. Don't hesitate to spend it. If you run out, just come home to get more."

At that moment, Lin Xiao was reminded of his parents from his past life seeing him off to school, feeling a wave of nostalgia.

"Father, the school provides food and lodging, so there's no need to spend money," Lin Xiao said, not taking the pouch.

"Alright, go on in then," his father said, handing him the luggage. Unbeknownst to Lin Xiao, his father slipped the pouch into his luggage.

A student in uniform approached. "May I see your badge, please?"

Lin Xiao took out his badge. "Thank you, senior."

"You're welcome. You can call me Lin Dong. I'll take you to get your uniform and other supplies," Lin Dong said.

"Thank you, Senior Lin," Lin Xiao replied.

He then turned to his father, "Dad, you should go back now. Don't worry about me."

"Alright, I'll head back. Study well, and come home during the holidays. I won't come to pick you up," his father said, then turned and left, resembling a famous literary figure disappearing into the distance.

Lin Xiao followed Senior Lin Dong into the campus. As they walked, Lin Dong introduced the place, "Straight ahead is the training hall, with various training equipment, though we only have a few types at the primary level. Behind it is the playground, and on the sides are the classrooms for first to third-year students and repeaters. You'll be studying in the first-year building."

"To the left are the teachers' offices and experimental area, mostly for teachers. To the right are the student cafeteria and logistics office. Further in are the dormitories, all clearly numbered," Lin Dong continued.

Soon, they arrived at the logistics office. "Junior, I'll leave you here. Queue up to get your uniform and dorm key, then head to your dorm and settle in. Prepare for the opening ceremony tomorrow morning," Lin Dong instructed.

"Thank you, Senior," Lin Xiao replied.

Lin Xiao received two sets of uniforms, a dorm key, and a student handbook, making his luggage even heavier. His dormitory was in the farthest corner of the academy, and he struggled to carry his belongings there.

Opening the dorm room, he saw four beds, much like a university dormitory with beds above and desks below. As the first to arrive, he chose the bed by the window, drawing on his years of dormitory experience to avoid potential roommates with strange habits, like eating smelly snacks.

After making his bed, Lin Xiao lay down to study the student handbook. The school's rules were similar to those in his past life, with more freedom. Students could come and go as they pleased, as long as they returned before the dormitory closed.

There were no strict academic requirements, but failing exams would result in mandatory labor, like the senior who had guided him. As he read, Lin Xiao fell asleep, only to be awakened by loud chatter.

Two new roommates had arrived. One chubby boy cheerfully introduced himself, "Hey, you're awake! I'm Wang Xiao, and this is Li Wen. Did you stay up too late last night out of excitement?"

Lin Xiao looked at the chubby, cute boy and the thin, reserved Li Wen. "Hello, I'm Lin Xiao. Let's take care of each other."

"No worries, big brother has your back," Wang Xiao declared.

Just then, another boy, shorter but sturdier, entered. "Hi, I'm Hu Chong. Let's get along well."

"I'm Wang Xiao, the sleeping beauty is Lin Xiao, and the quiet one is Li Wen, or you can call him Mosquito," Wang Xiao eagerly introduced everyone.

Lin Xiao was speechless, having already earned a nickname on the first day. The boys soon began chatting excitedly about their future school life and decided to visit the cafeteria together to try the food.

After leaving the cafeteria, Wang Xiao suggested, "Brothers, let’s rest this afternoon and go out for dinner tonight. My brother said the street food here is amazing."

The others readily agreed.
