第17話 大型トラックの恐怖

お昼時、いつものようにコンビニに駐車してご飯を食べようと駐車場に入ろうとした。

お昼時だから混んでる。この日は疲れていたので、少し長目の休憩を取ろうと思っていた。太陽の直射日光を避けるため、太陽が逆行になるような駐車場所を探した。

トラック用だと思われる少し大きめの駐車場にタクシーを前向きに止めた。

そして暫く休憩を取っていた。

お昼時だから、次から次へとどんどん他の一般車やら業務用車両、トラックなどが来る。

駐車場は満杯になった。

その時、バックミラー越しに後ろを見ると、一台の大型トラックが入ってきた。

向きを変えたりしながら、右往左往している。

そしてバックで私の車の真後ろに、どんどん近づいてきた。

私は、転回して、ある程度までバックしたら、そのまま諦めて、出ていくのかと思っていた。

そうしたら、バックのまま、こちらに近づいてきて、ギリギリぶつかりそうになるまで近づいたら、止まった。そして、そこから動く気配がなくなった。

私の車は完全に大型トラックに塞がれてしまった。

私はすぐにピンときた。

この運転手は、怒っているのだ。

本来、少し大きめのトラック用の駐車スペースにタクシーが止まっていた事に。

８トン以上はあろう大型トラックが、目の前にそびえ立つ光景に、少し恐怖を覚えた。

私は、ここから出たかったが、もし私が、トラックの運転手に話しかけたら、

確実にトラブルになると思った。

「トラック専用の駐車場にタクシーが止まっているんじゃねー」。

そのような想像が容易にできた。

しばらく様子を見た。

１５分くらい経った。トラックは一向に動かない。

まるで私のタクシーなど、眼中にないといった感じだ。

その時、私の隣の駐車スペースから軽トラックが出て行った。

そうしたら、その大型トラックはそこの場所に移動した。

私はバックしてやっとタクシーを抜け出すことができた。

車高の高い運転席の中に人影が見えたが、

目を合わさないようにした。

人生で初めてだ。大型トラックに通せんぼをされるなんて。

Fear of large trucks

At lunchtime, I parked at a convenience store as usual and tried to enter the parking lot to eat.

It's lunchtime so it's crowded. I was tired that day, so I thought I'd take a little longer break. To avoid direct sunlight, I looked for a place to park where the sun was backlit.

I parked the taxi facing forward in a slightly larger parking lot seemed to be used exclusively for larger trucks.

And then I took a break for a while.

Since it was lunchtime, other general cars, commercial vehicles, and trucks were arriving one after another.

The parking lot was full.

At that moment, when I looked behind me through the rearview mirror, I saw a large truck coming in.

It was moving back and forth, changing its direction.

Then he reversed closer and closer to right behind my car.

I thought he would turn around and back up to a certain point, then give up and leave out of convinience store.

But, it still came towards me while still in reverse, and when he got close enough to almost hit it, it stopped. And then there was no sign of movement.

My car was completely blocked by the large truck.

It hit me right away.

This driver is angry about a taxi that was parked in a slightly larger parking space for trucks.

I felt a little frightened by the sight of a large truck with a load capacity of over 8 tons towering in front of me.

I wanted to get out of here, but if I talked to the truck driver...

I thought it was definitely going to cause trouble.

It was easy to imagine something like that.

I watched it for a while.

About 15 minutes passed. The truck never moves.

It was as if my taxi was nowhere in sight for him.

At that moment, a light truck next to me pulled out of the parking space.

Then, the large truck moved to that location.

I backed up and finally managed to get out of the location.

I could see a figure inside the high-height driver's seat,

I tried not to make eye contact.

It's the first time in my life. I can't believe I'm being surrounded by a large truck.
