第9話 Epilogue
One month later. International Space Station.
“Houston, Baikonur…. Is there anyone there? Please respond. Anyone?”
A communication officer’s voice was echoed in vain.
Black Hole had grown further and its X-ray jet was extended beyond moon. More than half of mountains of Alps had been crushed to particles and gulped in its enormous stomach. Further sea water was absorbed in a whirl by from the Mediterranean Sea. The global atmosphere had already been removed and the surface of earth was naked against the space. Such erosion by Black Hole had extended to the underground and the earth’s crust had started to cave in here and there. It seemed nobody was alive on the ground.
“Commander, the attitude control system is not working.”
The strong Black Hole’s gravity began to affect the ISS orbit.
“All is over now. We will execute the Phase 4.”
Phase 4. It had been prepared as the last resort against the worst case. Whole human race did maximum efforts to build more than 100 exploring satellites in which stored several sets of egg cells and sperm cells, also the data of Human Race DNA. USA, Russia, EU, Japan, China… all countries which have ability to build a satellite cooperated for this work.
A lot of nuclear missiles were destroyed and their plutonium were loaded on the satellite for fuel to navigate the vast space. Though nobody knew how far the satellite could procced with 1 ton plutonium fuel, all we could do is just believing that in some future one of those satellites will be discovered by the highly advanced intelligent lifeform and they will recreate the human race. Though the provability of such good luck would be less than parts per million, it was the best to be done by current technology of the human race.
“Hurry up. We will launch satellites before being catch by the Black Hole gravity.”
“It is already difficult to stabilize the station.”
The helmsman shouted.
“Start count down. 10, 9, 8…”
The satellite storage was separated and left away rapidly from the station.
“We are now entering into the atmosphere.”
The outside the station was wrapped in flames.
“Launching satellites.”
With the Commander’s direction the door of storage opened and 100 satellites were launched like a firework in the space. Every satellite had its own individual course which was set in advance and fried away into the vacant deep space to seek for the lucky encounter with some ET in the far future.
One month later, the third planet of the solar system had completely disappeared.
Of course nobody know what will become of those satellites thereafter.
