Gretchen：

Gretchen： Ach neige, Du Schmerzenreiche, Dein Antlitz gnadig meiner Not!

Das Schwert im Herzen, Mit tausend Schmerzen Blickst auf zu deines Sohnes Tod.

Gretchen ：

Gretchen：

Ah cast down, Thou rich in sorrows, Thy gracious countenance on my misery!

The sword in the heart, With a thousand sorrows Thou seest thy son's death.
