Storytelling

Long ago, in a quiet rural village, there lived a boy, Nectar. His father was routinely drunk and violent towards his sickly wife, and had not been heard from since Nectar and his mother finally get away from him. Nectar worked daily to look after his mother and to help the family in any way he could. His emotional support comes from his childhood friend Rokia and,as told in an old village legend,"the Flower of Life".

Nectar knew it was said to have the power to save loved ones, then was determined to save his mother, so he told Rokia about it. 'Let's find the flower. I'll do whatever it takes to save my mother".

Rokia had always known he was suffering, so said:"Of course".

They set off over the mountains and through the forest in search of the flower of life.

During the harsh journey, Rokia told Nectar about her family. 'My father is fighting far away as a soldier in this long lasting war and will never come back. My mother died when I was born, too." He confided.

Nectar listened to Rokia's story and formed a deep bond with his friend, who was in the similar situation. They became more than just friends, the bearers of each other's destiny.

Soon, they were guided by a beautiful light and found a single fragile flower. The flower shone as if it had absorbed the light of the moon. Nectar was so taken by its beauty that he reached out his hand. 'This, this is the flower that will save my mother!' he exclaimed. But Rokia hesitated for a moment and asked, "But are you really ready to pick it?" he asked.

Nectar plucked the flower without hesitation. Instantly, intense pain shot through his body. Startled, Rokia supported him, but felt Nectar's life force being absorbed by the flower.

Back in the village, Nectar placed the flowers under his mother's pillow for her. Mother woke up, looked at Nectar and smiled. However,he felt his body getting weaker gradually. Rokia also noticed the change and tried desperately to support him. 'It's alright, you two still alive. Your mother has woken up!' He encouraged him, but Nectar understood that his life was being cut short.

One night, in a dream, Nectar met the mystical deity Ayatzki. She said: 'The flower of life is a sign of true love and self-sacrifice. But true salvation is never the taking of another's life", she told him. Nectar took these words to heart, but his feelings for his mother kept him going.

As the days passed, Nectar's body became weaker and weaker and he found it increasingly difficult to go about his daily life. The villagers saw his suffering and kept him away, unable to say anything. Rokia sought help from the villagers, but they were unable to reach out to him out of fear or prejudice.

In the meantime, Nectar's mother was heartbroken to learn that her son was sacrificing himself. She said to Nectar: "Don't cut your life short for me. Your life is the most important thing not only for you but for me!",she said tearfully.

Nectar's heart was choked by his mother's words. ' But I just wanna...make our lives barely last',he shouted, but there was no power in his voice. Gradually, Nectar began to realise how great the power of the beautiful flower was.

Eventually, Nectar decided to accept his fate. He told Rokia: "I don't want you to be involved in my destination. It was a relief my mother became able to work, but I can't stand nothing will result in significance for me! " Rokia cried out, "If...If not,I want you never to give up at any cost..." He pleaded, but Nectar's will was firm.

He breathed his last quietly and the village fell silent. Rokia embraced his corpse and sobbed: "If I had knew such a thing would be supposed to happen, I should never have picked those flowers". The villagers remembered his kindness and sacrifice and continued to call his name in their grief.

Rokia, the only one left behind, went to Nectar's house with no hope of surviving. I'm sure Nectar's mother will feel sorry for me." With a vain hope in his heart, he headed there.

Just before she knocked on the front door of the house, she heard a terrible yelling from inside, followed by a woman screaming and panting. Startled, I checked inside through the window of the house and saw an unbelievable sight.

Nectar's father had discovered where she lived. Whether drunk or angry, his face was flushed red and his eyes were horribly bloodshot. Now he yells that finally he has spotted and can't help raping his irresistible wife! Rokia almost vomited. He gagged for a while, but when he remembered Nectar's dying face, he became impossibly angry, and on the spur of the moment he entered the house with a large, sharp stone nearby and tried to throw it at the man's head, but perhaps because his vision was distorted by tears, it stuck in the woman's throat.

The man slowly turns around. Then he showed his creepy smile and shot Rokia dead. He then continued with his wife's corpse as if nothing had happened.

I wonder if Nectar is delighted in the heaven?

Ayatzki would sneer at there.
