Part III Tomi's Note (1) She was supposed to have left for Brazil taking Kazuo's ashes

She was supposed to have left for Brazil taking Kazuo's ashes

On December 6, 1993, Hisako was to board the plane bound for Brazil taking Kazuo's ashes. The plane was to take off on schedule, but she was not on board. Soon after she sat on the seat with a feeling of relief, she had a pain in the chest. Taking out a menu card from the pocket in front of her, she fanned herself. A stewardess noticed her.

"What is the matter?"

"I feel pain in the chest."

"Will you come this way?"

She must have walked to the door of the plane supported by the stewardess, but she remembered only vaguely what was going on because she had fainted while she was being taken there. On the step to the plain, the pilot was awaiting the instruction of departure from the control tower. Stewardesses, the purser, JAL staff, maintenance engineers, and a resident doctor went this way and that. Hisako later recalled that a JAL staff with arched brows was the kindest of all among those who had helped her from the plane, which at last took off without her.

At past ten, the 2nd terminal of the airport was silent without remaining passengers. In silence JAL staff ran hastily to bring medicine and a cup of water, which turned out to be almost empty. She was reminded in fragment that the plain had delayed because of her trouble, and that she made a fuss asking them to take her to a place where she could breathe more freely even though she was in fact in a wide hall, where she hah made re-entry formalities.

Her bag had gone with the plain. She had Kazuo's ashes in hand.

A JAL staff member asked , "What is this stuff?"

"It is a jar of ashes.

"Your baggage had gone to Sao Paolo, but later you can reclaim it if you show these tickets. "

"Yes, I see."

After a while she asked, "What happened to my baggage?"

"Well, it will come back by return flight. So please keep these ticket.

And again, she asked a while later, "By the way, what will happen to my baggage?"

”AS I HAVE TOLD YOU IT SURELY COMES BACK, even though it is in the air now." Perhaps she asked the same question once more.
