[Chapter 1] - 3 Captain!
But his views on the matter don't matter. If he is ordered to train a platoon, that he will do.
"Captain! Captain, good morning!"
A familiar voice calls out from behind, yet he needn't turn to know that the voice's owner is his adjutant, Yato.
She was a 2nd Grade Technical Lieutenant of the Mobile Mechanized Division, specifically, an administrative officer. Graduating officer school only a handful of weeks prior to Shigure's transfer to Tsuiki. Due to their constant exposure to each other, she naturally grew to be his only confidante.
"Good morning Yato."
"Hah... why do you never wait for me? Jeez... making me run after you from Headquarters... We're headed to the Parade Grounds, right? Did you get the training plan for today?"
Yato catches up to walk on Shigure's left, trying to catch her breath from the mini-marathon she had to run. With her typically neat, medium-length hair coated in a black sheen, rustled from the wind of her sprint. Somewhat obscuring her amber eyes scouring his face for any sign of sympathy. Shigure only glancing at her briefly as if to say 'Then don't be so late.'
"I reviewed it last night."
"Captain... But do you even remember it?"
"Address promotions, firearm proficiency training."
"Okay okay, you do remember, good. But don't forget the lecture, Captain! And please don't make me do-"
"I'll let you handle the lecture."
Yato lets out a sound of displeasure. She hates being stared at by so many soldiers while teaching. Plus, Shigure has experience in the topics, not her!
He glances briefly at her before speeding up, sure not to reach his destination late.
Being a place reserved for ceremonial purposes the grounds themselves are areas of elevated respect upon military bases. Thus, the 5th Ceremonial Parade Ground, like all others, has a more refined and pleasant look. Actual effort was enacted to disrupt the grey concrete with other materials, such as marble pace markers, a border of greenery, and viewing stands.
Military regulation says soldiers must march on the grounds, regardless of time, reason, or conditions. Of course, Shigure doesn't, just stepping off the curbed border and giving minimal effort to look presentable. It's not like the other officers will do anything, nor have the capability to.
Shigure halted at the front and centre, the platoon Warrant Officer calling 'Attention!' and saluting the Captain.
"At ease 12th Platoon. Today we'll start with promotions then move to the firing range. I trust you've all reviewed your timesheets."
He salutes back loosely to the Armoured Calvary WO, with everyone including his adjutant, coming to parade rest.
