第7話 Explosion

A few weeks have passed since then. The long-awaited home education was arranged, and Rose could spend quality time daily. Since she was interested in magic, her father, Dalgodas, assigned her a teacher to teach magic.

Rose took her plate and asked the head chef in her kitchen for her lunch today. Today's menu is sautéed meat for lunch. The head chef also added that creamy egg dish that Rose loves.

"Are you alone today? Isn't Moi here?"

The person in charge of the kitchen put down a tea and asked.

"Yeah. I don't know what happened. Moi wasn't there, the teacher left and didn't return, so I came here alone because I'm hungry."

As Rose answered, she put a mouthful of egg food into her mouth.

However, when Moi saw Rose like that, she just nodded and let her go. Rose caught her breath and went to the door where the guard was waiting. When the door was opened, several people gathered there and were having a serious conversation with Dalgodas.

"Lord Dalgodas, Miss Rose has arrived!"

"Get in!"

Dalgodas' voice was heard, and Moi gently pushed Rose on her back, telling her to come inside. Moi stayed outside. Rose turned away from her for a moment, but then she went inside. When the door was closed, Rose stepped forward with trepidation.

"Rose."

"Yes, Father."

Rose thought that Dalgodas' face at this moment was scary. Her teacher and several people stood in a circle, and the crystal in question was on the coffee table.

"Place your hand on that crystal."

"Yes, Father."

Rose was scared but stepped forward and put it on the crystal before Dalgodas. At that moment, five lights emitted vivid light and shined strongly.

"Oh! Oh my God!"

The people here spoke out. Rose looked around and withdrew her hand. She stares at Dalgodas and blinks.

"That's enough. Go back to your room and don't go anywhere today until I call. There will be no studying for today. This is an order."

Dalgodas commanded with a scary look on his face.

Rose bowed and walked outside. She then returned to her room with Moi waiting for her outside.

Rose doesn't understand why this happens. She even doesn't understand what that light is or why Dalgodas' face has become so grim.

Moi went with her to her room without saying anything. When she returned to her room, the teacher's belongings had been put away. Rose sat in the chair anxiously, wondering if she would be locked in the room again.

There was a knock on her door. Moi stood up and responded. Surprisingly, the dining room staff brought Rose's favorite egg dish and other dishes. However, everything was newly cooked. Plus, it came with a snack for her so that Moi could see a smile on Rose's face.

Thank you! Rose said, looking at the food on her desk and clasping her hands together.

Moi brewed tea and placed it on her desk. Rose doesn't have much of an appetite. However, if something were to happen if she didn't eat, she wouldn't have the strength, so she decided to eat, thought Rose as she stuffed her cheeks.

She thought the dishes were delicious, especially this egg dish.

After finishing the meal, Moi cleaned the dishes and handed them to the waiting-maid in front of her room. Then she returned to the room.

Rose decided to read her book from Yanagi. She was leafing through the book, thinking that the previous chapter had certainly written about light. There were difficult letters lined up, so she couldn't read them. Still, she kept flipping through the book, looking for something.

"Oh it was written here," she said and started reading. It is written that the color of the light represents magical attributes.

Rose remembered when Yanagi took a plant whip from his palm, and a light appeared. She also remembers how he did it.

"Earth! Yanagi commands you, give me power!"

That was it, Rose remembered, reaching out for her hand. If she imitated him, she thought she might use powerful magic.

"Earth! Rose commands you to give me power!"

BOOOOOM!

The moment she cast her spell, an explosion occurred.

Rose became dizzy and her consciousness became hazy. Inside, she heard Moi's screams. But she couldn't do anything. Everything went dark.

"She has regained consciousness!"

She heard the voice of someone she didn't know.

"Rose! Do you understand?"

"Hmm?"

“Call a medic!”

After a while, a medical doctor examined Rose's head and body.

"Please don't move now."

Rose was trying desperately to resist her clothes. But her head hurt and she felt nauseous.

She wanted to vomit so badly, she couldn't help it and moved her body. And she threw up on the ground,

"Bring me a wash basin and hot water! Towels too!"

Someone shouted again.

"Miss Rose, are you okay?"

She threw up, Rose thought tearfully. The taste of the food mixed with stomach acid in her mouth was terrible.

This time it was Moi's voice. She did as she was told and put the hot water in her mouth.

She felt Moi rubbing her back as she drank the hot water. Then, as she lay back down, she heard the voice again.

"I'll carry you to the room!"

Rose can see the movements of the people in a hurry. But she doesn't understand what happened. It's all she can do is open her eyes. Rose could see Moi's worried face. Moi wiped the mess from her mouth. And as she lay her body on the mattress, she saw Dalgodas. He was talking with several people with a serious expression on his face. Several guards can be seen outside. And this room wasn't Rose's room.

"Brother..book."

She was anxious about Yanagi's book. That's something she borrowed, so she has to return it.

"It's okay. I'll look for it later. Miss Rose, you don't have to think about anything right now."

Rose nods and sees Moi. It looks like she understood, Rose thought.

The maids came in and brought clothes. Her clothes were removed and a medic gave her a thorough examination. After that, several maids dressed her.

"Call a medical magician!"

Rose heard Dalgodas' voice. Rose tried to move her fingers with all her strength, but couldn't. And for some reason, she's shivering because it's so cold.

"Father..."

At Rose's call, Dalgodas grabbed her hand. She felt that it was somehow warm.

"It's me, Rose."

"Sorry..."

"I'll get mad at you later, so be prepared. The first thing you need to do now is let your body heal without thinking about it."

"Yes, Father."

Rose nodded slowly. After all, she caused something terrible.

However, being scolded after getting well is like a reservation. No way, she thought.

Rose feels sleepy. Her eyelids are heavy. Rose closed her eyes and she tried to sleep.

Dalgodas said desperately, trying to warm up his little girl. The maids came and brought blankets and threw them over Rose's body.

Rose doesn't know how many days she slept. When conscious, she finds herself in a room she doesn't know. She wasn't in her room. Her whole body hurts, but she seems to be okay. And she can feel it in her hands and feet.

“Moi?”

Rose called out to Moi. However, there was no reply. She wondered if Moi was there.

"Are you alright, Rose?"

It's Yanagi's voice. Rose blinked and turned her head in the direction the sound was coming from. She hadn't seen him in months, she thought. She can no longer hear cheering during her morning run, so the curfew must have been lifted. Maybe he's busy with work.

“Brother?”

She saw those green eyes. He patted Rose on the head.

"Yeah, I am."

She felt kind of calm. She looked at him and blinked, wondering why.

"The book..."

"That book? It's okay. Moi found it for me."

"Oh, that's good."

Yanagi smiled and she nodded.

"Where is Moi?"

"She is making your clothes, along with the other maids."

"Clothes?"

"That's right. There's no clothes left, so they had to remake them all."

"Why?"

When Rose asked, Yanagi was silent for a while. It looks like he is not sure if he should say it, or not. After a while, Yanagi told her the truth in a gentle voice.

"It looks like you destroyed the whole room."

"Huh?"

Rose is staring at Yanagi in surprise.

"Don't you remember?"

"No."

Rose thought.

"When I imitated Brother Yanagi's spell, I heard a loud sound!"

"What kind of spell was it?"

"The earth..."

"That spell can only be used by those who have completed the training. Rose didn't even start the training, it was a big problem."

"Umh..."

Rose found out the situation now that she was in trouble. What should she do now, she thought as she stared at Yanagi.

"Is Sister Yuri safe?"

Rose asked, and Yanagi nodded.

"She safe. She was somewhere else, so no one was hurt except you. Moi only had a scratch, so that's good."

"I see..."

"Shall I bring you some hot water?"

"Yeah, please."

"Okay. Wait a minute."

Yanagi poured hot water into a glass from the thermos flask on the desk in the room.

"Yes, take it slow."

He put the hot water into her mouth little by little. 

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."

Yanagi placed the glass on the desk.

"Brother, don’t you have work today?"

"When I heard the explosion, I rushed over and found Rose in serious condition. Even working, I couldn't concentrate, so I took a break."

"Your salary will be reduced then."

"Don't worry. I'll work again, so it's okay."

"I'm so sorry."

Rose apologized. As if Yanagi understood her feelings, he smiled and patted her head.

"You just need to think about getting well."

He said, holding her hand.

"I wonder if Father will get mad at me?"

"I think he'll be angry with you. You'd better be prepared."

"I don't like it."

"You have no choice. You did something terrible. Rose, you blew up half of the mansion."

"Oh my God..."

Rose closed her eyes and realized the extent of the damage. 

"Well, take a break. I'm going to report to Father you have regained consciousness."

Yanagi gently patted her and fixed her blanket before leaving her room.

She had no choice but to prepare for being scolded. She opened her eyes and followed Yanagi with her eyes.
