Chapter 6: The Ways of the Warrior
"I sure can't believe it, that kid is still sleeping after all the boasting he did and how he would give it his all for his training yesterday." Mumbled Rhea irritated at the apparent lack of commitment from Richard who had himself asked to be trained by her in the ways of survival. When Richard had made the request, it had made Rhea see him in a new light since she is one who appreciates someone who doesn't just want things handed over to them without any hard work. That's how Rhea had been raised and that's how she had Raised Shima, Raksha well that's another story altogether that she rather not talk about since it's more on the domain of her wife.
"Heh! Just seeing Raksha be so assertive with this man really makes me proud of her though. The way she behaved around him all meek made me worry for her and how would she take leadership of the village when she is so passive." Shima answered back as she looked down at Raksha who was peacefully sleeping on her bed, the younger sister and then she took a look at Richard who was in a rather in a compromising but strange visage for the family of four who should have been wary of Richard but seem to have lost their wariness they had displayed a day earlier.
The subject of the conversation Richard was after all, now resting his head on Raksha's shoulder in an arm pillow situation from which the meek Raksha had full control of the situation. If you were someone from earth, you'd be fooled into thinking that the ones with the pants in the relationship was Raksha not Richard, as she had her right arm under Richard's neck pulling him towards her as the boy didn't resist even if he was currently unconscious.
It was a strange spectacle for a earthling to witness but more so to the village demi humans who didn't know what a man was, nor did they have any gender role or even ethics to which approach the situation that was now manifesting before their very eyes. Since that was the case Rhea and Shima didn't make a fuss about it. Shima had very strong yearning for Richard bordering in animalistic attraction. Rhea and Pam also felt attracted but their hardline discipline allowed them to withstand their interactions with Richard.
Raksha in the other hand was also attracted to Richard but was far too meek for her to do anything. After witnessing how Shima momentarily lost her senses in a frenzy detecting the male pheromones Richard was giving, Pam thought that since Richard seemed fond of Raksha he would forgive small transgressions. Pam had wondered if the proximality towards a male would motivate the future head of the village, in other words Raksha into being more aggressive and confident. Pam's merchant contacts had after all told her stories that human women would become different people when exposed towards males and even became more valorous than they already were.
Pam had no way of knowing if this was true or not, however it was worth a shot. both Rhea and Pam had worried about the future of the village. If a leader of the Heim village can't display authority surely the villagers would give into chaos. It was a calculated risk and they also didn't forget to give Shima and earful for her previous behavior: they also didn't forget to keep an eye out for her. All in all, they didn't think Raksha had it in her to try to subdue Richard the way Shima had, from there on Raksha would be under surveillance monitored by Pam in hopes that she becomes a better future leader.
How would such people who had no interaction with neither humans nor the opposite sex approach this situation? It was Uknown for the most part because the demi humans didn't have a culture of gender relations. It would be a different story for the human civilization who were said to even go to war for a man.
This doesn't mean that the Wolf Men of the Heim village felt nothing instinctually towards the partial nudity that Richard had displayed on his visit when he was shirtless. Pam, Rhea, Shima and Raksha all felt the urge to mount him and embrace him for some reason. it is likely that if Richard had shown himself in the same state towards other beast men who weren't as disciplined as the village chief's household, the results would have been utter and absolute chaos.
This much was communicated to Shima, and this is why she had introduced Richard in the manner she had. Pam didn't need a human male to become the apple of temptation. she needed Richard to learn what he must and leave as soon as possible.
"I've had enough!" said Rhea having reached her limit to the spectacle before her even if the plan had been for them to sleep together, Rhea couldn't stand seeing their proximity and the lack of interest Richard was displaying on her eyes sleeping so peacefully at sun rise when people ought to get up for the day, Rhea went off on her own and out the room leaving Shima in a state of confusion.
As Shima is trying to work out what it's happening, she leaves for the door when suddenly Rhea comes back with a eerie grin as her yellow eyes flash in the total darkness giving the impression that a demon was lurking in the shadows in wait of an innocent soul.
"What are you going to do Mother?" asked Shima just to make sure but she had an inkling on what was going on or rather of what was about to happen as she moved her massive body out of the way and saw Rhea throw the water, she had been carrying on a container, towards both Raksha and Richard who were peacefully sleeping in the mattress made of leaves.
{Splash]
"Wake Up Kid!" Rhea semi shouted at Richard who like a normal person who's not only very warm but fuzzily being coddled by Raksha who is not only very warm herself but has assets that would make a man that much comfortable in a cold morning, said man was then immediately startled awake by cold freezing water dripping from head to his torse.
[Gasp]
*--------------------------------------------------
[Gasp]
W-what's going on?" I shot up from the bed I had been assigned to as I felt freezing cold water dripping from my head to my lower torso. "It's freezing, It's something the matter?" I asked a little ticked off at the rude way I had just been awoken by the obvious culprit that is Rhea. A little motion sickness hit me as all the blood that had been pumping at a resting state fought to get to all of my body causing me to stagger a few steps.
"You all right Kid?" Asked Rhea that while a little concerned for his staggering, her expression that was that of a demon did not change, it wasn't changing at all. She wasn't a inner softie to my chagrin. She shook her head a couple of times and approached me to which I reflectively backed off a little bit having realized the way I had just addressed the woman that just yesterday had terrified me so.
Rhea didn't mind and made her way to me with a menacing glare on her eyes while Shima looked all to amused at my initial reaction despite the slight tremble she had made when she saw her pissed off mother address me. She was acting as if witnessing fine theater sitting on her bed looking at us with utter amusement on her face. Shima then stood up from her bed and changed into a serious tone of voice and addressed her mother, Rhea.
"I'll get everything ready mother. What is it sparring, Scouting or Hunting today?" asked Shima as she made her way towards the door.
"We will do as many as we can this entire week Shima. This kid is in need of some much-needed discipline." answered Rhea with a smirk as Shima also smirked back and responded with a "Got it" before making her way outside.
"What's going on?" I asked still confused at what was happening here. I take a look around and spot that despite having shared the experience of Cold Freezing water with Raksha, She looked to be unaffected as she was tossing and turning with a look of utter bliss on her bed under primitive blankets that weren't locally made from animal hide like he expected them to but were textiles, nonetheless.
Rhea drew closer to the still very much confused Richard who had backed off a little to Rhea's advance. "Remember your bravado yesterday kid? huh?" Rhea shot back grabbing him from the scruff of the neck of the sleeping robes he had been given the night prior.
Her golden eyes drew closer to his face, and she was livid. "Do you remember why you're still here kid?" said Rhea on a gruff low voice. "I personally vouched for you yesterday, Kid, to Pam, Remember that?" Rhea continued.
Rhea was serious, while her right hand had my neck her other hand was hovering in her sword as if awaiting any dumb answer with immediate violence.
"Ah" I responded. "I still intend to learn but throwing cold water at a sleeping person is no way to wake them up." Richard was now holding down his own fury but kept a lid in it as he remembered his place on the village and the fact that despite being quite a bit stronger in this world. Richard didn't know how to fight, nor had he ever killed a person in his life. To add to the fact, he didn't how to make a living on this world and shouting back at someone who so readily hovers her hand above her sword isn't a great idea. He must gain and all knowledge she may hold to increase his survival in this world.
"How? By enjoying your time sleeping with Raksha?" Rhea asked very much irritated. "By the way notice how Raksha is still sleeping? The water I threw at you was not cold water" smirked Rhea. "Not by our standards of cold anyway" finished Rhea as she took a long look at the still peacefully sleeping Raksha before continuing with her rant as she loosened her grip on Richards clothes.
Rhea then let go of his clothes and begun dragging him outside, she was still wearing the black robes she had worn yesterday making Richard wonder if she had gone to sleep at all. "No but It's quite early, isn't it?" I shot back despite knowing that it wouldn't be met with any form of mercy, seeing the total darkness in which we found ourselves in, only accompanied by the very few candle lights placed in strategic regions inside the cabin. The cabin had a very strong wooden odor with the smell of dirty clothes, but I dare not mention it because insulting your host isn't the smartest thing to do.
"Early? The sun is rising boy. That's your cue to get your ass up and begin your day, that's how it works in these parts, lest you wastefully let it run its course by getting up late. We are hunters, If we don't hunt then the village doesn't eat. kid." Rhea said as she meaningfully glanced at the rising sun becoming a little more visible through the windows of the cabin.
Sure. Enough I could see the sun rise once again. It's strange how beautiful it looks when you're not lost in a forest fending for your life. That said a awful smell was assaulting my nostrils at the moment. The smell of earlier wasn't the real problem but the highlight of the odor came now that I walked peacefully in the corridors. All the candlelight spread all around the cabin gave an awful stench that punched the very lungs in your chest and the smell and look they gave even with light all around was generally smokier than your run of the mill candles made from processed wax we had back on earth. the smell was so bad that even now I was holding back the gag reflex to throw up, mustering every fiber of my being against the idea since I'm a guest.
However, that's to be expected since those very candlelight's were made of animal fat. That's right I had forgotten that back in the day before electricity and science, animal fat and lard was king in the ordinary lives of the people.
I do wonder how often the people of this world wash their clothes though given what happened yesterday, I do have a more favorable impression of these villagers than the Victorian era noble back on my world. I mean the village has a showering and/or bathing culture given that they have a warehouse space on which they bathe so it isn't as bad as the medieval times back on earth I thought to myself still groggy since I didn't make a habit of waking up at the crack of dawn.
As I made my way out something popped into my head, so I just had to ask Rhea since I was now feeling absolutely famished." But what about Breakfast?" I asked suddenly since I wasn't ready to go hungry before a workout. You can't tell me you're going to make anyone exercise with an empty stomach I thought to myself.
That's absolutely barbaric! I thought.
Rhea turned back slightly while dragging me through the corridors in the cabin and answered. "You'll eat when we are done with our workout". "You'll be put through a lot so prepare yourself" she continued.
Shivers ran through my spine at her words. I knew that by no means she was joking in any way. she was totally serious.
----------------------------------------------------------------
-On a empty plot of land-
I walked under the few streaking lights of the rising sun as I walked around and through the other houses which were somewhat close and yet distant from each other. The person now walking in front of me was Rhea who walked with a straight back and without looking at me as we made it out of the village chief's cabin.
Villagers were as she had said, going about their business for the day and yet none looked at me. It seems what Shima had told them had been an absolute as none approached me. the small children glanced at me with curiosity and the teens and young women also glanced at me with curiosity written all over their face but dared not to do anything that would displease the village chief.
[Yawn]
An unconscious sound leaks out of my mouth, I quickly closed my mouth at the yawn, but it did get a small reaction from Rhea. "What? You tired kid?" asked Rhea as she kept walking in front of me without taking a look back and her voice didn't exactly spell out her current mood. her ears were once again alert as they had been on the way here from the forest yesterday.
"Well yeah, just a little, Rhea" I answered. "Hoh! That so, it must be awfully peaceful in your neck of the woods if this time a day makes you this tired". answered Rhea as her tail swished a little to the sides. "Did Raksha keep you awake for long? I did hear you promised to translate her books" she continued.
"I did translate some basic stuff, but I doubt I could teach her how to understand it. it's a miracle in and out of itself that I can talk you guys. You're speaking a foreign language but yet I understand you, likewise I'm speaking a foreign language, and you can understand me, does it feel like you could teach others the language I speak in? No right?" I answered. "That somehow makes sense. However, do keep in mind that Raksha is rather fond of you. by extension that girl is fascinated by human culture at large due to her life in this village, keep in mind that she's this village future chief" Rhea reiterated before finishing with.
"That aside Kid, it is also your responsibility to keep track of the hours you will sleep when you have things to do the next day. Your tiredness it's inexcusable" having said her piece Rhea stopped looking back at me any further, faced straight ahead and kept walking.
"I understand" I answered having felt the sting at the end there. I can't help but think that from my perspective both Rhea and Pam fill paternal figures for both Raksha and Shima. Raksha if anything reminds me more of women from back in my world. I can see that they worry for her for that which only intrigues me to see what a human family looks like in this world. I thought to myself wondering that kind of circus human society could turn out to be. This woman sure is a drill sergeant though, thinking so I walk silently hearing nature sounds all around us including the same birds that had welcomed me yesterday morning.
The sounds of the dirt breaking beneath the many small rocks beneath our feet along the way echoed in this silent morning where although sunlight was rising steadily, there was some form of mist on the surroundings of the forest nearby. If that had been present yesterday, I would have lost my mind more than I did, that boar would have definitely killed me. As I think such things The chill still seeps into my bones as the cold fresh air expanded into my lungs filling them with vigor and made me feel a bit more refreshed than I had been back at home no matter how much I left the city occasionally to camp in the mountains with my dad. This is what air is like without civilization isn't it?
As this comes to my mind, thinking back, I do think I handled my situation more maturely than any other eighteen-year-old would have done so in my position, I mean no doubt my older sister would have lost her mind... no don't think of them Richard, not right now you cannot allow it." I subconsciously grip my fist but let go of such thoughts. Ridding myself of that, I re-engage Rhea in a change of pace.
"Rhea, you know back there, I only had just arrived yesterday you know, and I've never been on a forest by myself-" I justified some of my tiredness further until she interrupted me. "A person of discipline isn't so easily startled kid. Granted you did come through some sort of way unknown to me to this world but a more discipline person would have looked for a village or settlement and got their bearings Straight". said Rhea with a gruff voice.
"I did try to do that but that damn boar kept me busy, also don't forget that you guys made it to me first, so I didn't have the chance to even look for a settlement." I shot right back slightly irritated. IT wasn't like I walked into this world willingly. "Most of my tiredness can be attributed to that kind of stress." I quipped at the end.
"Sound like a bunch of excuses to me kid." said Rhea ignoring my defense and suddenly came to a stop at a open area I hadn't notice since I was dividing my time thinking on my situation and sporadically talking to Rhea on my way here and I then notice Shima is almost shirtless with few beads of sweat on her body.
"Shima, are you done with the preparations?" Asked Rhea looking at Shima's way as she stood just there under the morning sunlight. Shima was still and looked to have gone through some form of workout that had her now resting under the sunlight. It hasn't been long since we last saw each other, maybe twenty-five minutes or so.
"Sure, thing Mom" Answered Shima with a devious smile as she tilted her head and inspected me from head to toe. She did have her right hand on the handle of the sword though which only added to the impact of the picturesque way she looked under breaking white clouds that seems to give the illusion that the battlefield we now found ourselves on was being caged by the very heavens.
Shima was wearing a form of sportswear than bound her breasts tightly to her chest not that they were big enough to make them stick out but given her size and height, Even C cups would look small on her so I have difficulty measuring them since they're always bound. What she was wearing looked more like a sleeveless jacket in my opinion, but she did look both intimidating and cool at the very same time. the jacket was black the same color of her pants but unlike her mother who had Jet black fur, Shima had silver fur which only added to the radiance of the morning in my opinion. Shifting my eyes downward taking a good look at the massive shadow she is casting but something entirely different causes me to once again baffled at a different bizarre sight right in front of my eyes. there is something i hadn't paid much attention to that I am now noticing.
Taking a closer look at where I am currently standing, I'm surrounded by leave less trees all around the field with different heights and thickness of the trunks. they as stated have no leaves to them, but the tree trunk would make it hard to move about if there was a fight here though. I thought to myself as I wondered why something like this would be present on a village since it looks like a waste of wood.
I shift my gaze back at Shima and the other bizarre sight comes into my eyes going back to the massive shadow she is casting, I am confronted by the fact that 200cm tall women as massive as Shima is, they probably aren't rare and exist on this world at large, which brings me to the fact that I do not how to feel about it as a man who was deemed basically tall back in the US.
As I am admiring her toned body slightly distracted by the tree trunks all around, Rhea her mother comes to me and hands me or rather places the handle of a sword in the palms of my hands in my distraction while I was looking at her daughter.
"Here kid" Rhea says with a smirk on her face as she moves faster than I can react to and immediately backs off from me and gives a meaningful glance towards Shima who had been sunbathing for a while there then turns to look at me with her golden pupils reflecting the sunlight at me like a pair of amber jewels.
"!"
The moment I grip the sword chills go through my spine and I can feel every hair on my body stand on end, without knowing the cause I feel the urge to raise my hands at the very moment, I feel a hostile will being sent on my direction. I didn't know that such a thing was possible.
[Clank]
Faster than I can think, a massive shadow comes at me at a extraordinary speed it's incomprehensible. I reflexively lift my sword immediately and receive the blow that makes both of my arms vibrate at the impact followed by a kind of numbness that you'd get if you had slammed at metal pipe towards a concrete wall or the very pavement back home. the extreme speed makes any and all leaves on the area fly in all directions with a cloud of dust rising on the wake of the person who had come and attacked me.
"What's going on?" I shouted at Shima who'd been the culprit that rushed at me and attacked me while I gave Rhea the stink eye. "Nothing much Richard" answered Shima on Rhea's behalf moving at extreme speeds from different angles that I would have no way of countering back in my world.
[Clank}
Once again, I receive the impact but this time, I grip the sword tightly trying to prevent the loose grip from breaking my arms in the rebound. I then plant my feet and bend my knees slightly to disperse the impact into the ground thinking something like that sounds plausible and should help. The result still hurts but I feel much better in my arms and i can feel the creak of my bones as I dodge and strike as Shima strikes at me without thinking too much.
[Clank]
"" I involuntarily curse at the extreme pressure coming from Shima's attack. Shima is truly strong; I can feel all my bones rattle with the impact. I doubt the strongest man alive would have been able to oppose this kind of brute strength.
I move away from Shima who still Un relentlessly pursuits me at her own leisure when I suddenly bump into one of the tree trunks. "!" I cursed out loud.
[Crash]
I sidestep the incoming blade and it's followed by stomp that makes all manner of rock and dirt fly through the air. Shima had managed to create a crater and a slight split on the ground where I was standing. clouds of both rock and dirt shower the arena and I can feel the chill of the morning dissipate as every muscle in my body is heating up and I can feel beads of sweat travelling all throughout my body.
"Lesson One, you need to let your instincts run wild, the truth is in a fight there will be no time for you to practice forms and that other nonsense the human knights practice kid. That can come after, but you lived on a peaceful society and to break you shell you need to forcefully awaken your instincts." Commented Rhea from one side of the arena in a elated voice as she saw us Shima and I go at each other throat. Rhea however had moved from her original spot.
Moving my sights from Rhea, I make the call to start moving on my own since I can't keep being at the defensive of the onslaught. So, I decide to go in the offensive and go after Shima. I start kicking the tree trunks from side to side and pursuing with the sword that Rhea had given me.
[Slice]
I cut at Shima, but she dodges all too quickly which allows me to sever one of the tree trunks standing on my way. "Woah" I exclaimed astonished at the sight since even on earth this wouldn't have happened.
Awaken my instinct? Sure, I lived on a peaceful world and whatnot but the entire point of me asking for training was to ensure my survival in this world. That stunt could have killed anyone who was normal from my world without them being able to fight back. Also aren't you supposed to stretch a bit before a fight? This is making absolutely no sense whatsoever. As I'm trying to work out the problems with Rhea's teaching method, that very same person interrupts my thoughts.
"Nice going kid, your second lesson is to make use of your surroundings anywhere you find yourself in a battle. In a fight no one will fight you fair and square unless it's some kind of match or the opponent it's a total idiot" Rhea said casually as she looked at her daughter Shima and I go at it several times as we bounced off the tree trunk like some fantasy anime. Once again, she had shifted locations and now was standing atop one of the nearby tree trunks looking over us with a calm face on her that kind of pissed me off.
Which now that I think about it calmly, I am in one of those aren't I? This isn't earth and its damn laws of physics. I can wrestle a monster boar for crying out loud and I'm bouncing off tree trunks to fight a massive wolf woman. Shima's silvery eyes are locking eyes with me, and her face is flushed with excitement at the fact she is having a bout with me.
Yikes, she's one of those isn't she. I'm thinking furiously as she keeps pursuing me with an intoxicated look on her face. Her massive frame moving at high speeds are several times more terrifying than that damn boar.
"I get the exercise Rhea but why just come at me without telling me first" I shot back as I constantly dodged and rolled in the ground to avoid the incoming assaults Shima was dishing out, Shima who had a wicked grin on her face as she let loose more and more as she pursued me. Shima was coming after me like I had killed her parents or something. The vigor was increasing and remained silent the entire time.
[Crack]
Right behind me where I was just standing the think tree trunk has just been almost completely severed by just one kick from Shima. What the hell is this woman made off exactly?
Shima readied up her blade and came at me once more. "You are Fantastic Richard" said Shima with a gruffy low voice as she gave me a look of delight. "Only my mother can spar with me in the village since all the other villagers are weaklings." She continued as she was complaining about the strength of the other villagers.
[Clank]
Once again, I took on her blade but this time, I let the sword slide to decrease the impact to my arms. This allowed me to move away faster as she pursued me. "I like you Ruchard. Even if I'm holding back, you can answer my hits and defend my attacks" Shima continued as her ear were now in full alert picking up noise from the entire battlefield.
[Crash]
Once again, she landed a kick in one of the tree trunks that was in the spot Richard had been mere milliseconds ago. This was the first time Shima was able to go all out in a sense since no one in the village was able to parry her attacks or keep up with her speed. Silva the copper haired wolf woman had tried but even her which was the second strongest of the newer generation could not stop her. she kept bouncing off the trunk of the trees and swung her sword like it was part of her body, each of the swings got closer and closer to Richard and that worried him.
Meeting Richard was now fate to Shima and it worried him. She was growing a little attached to him and he didn't know if that kind of attachment would lead to any for of a good development. Richard himself had decided he wanted to see humans' society and travel the world. If he was going to be in a new world then why should he settle down in a unknown village and live out like some sort of peasant.
If Richard was strong here, he thought that he could join and make parties with people and he could maybe find guild request that would absolutely make him rich.
"Are all men as tough are you are Richard? If that's the case, then we need more of them to be here!" shouted Shima excitedly cutting off my thoughts of future grandeur that had risen in me. "If they're then it doesn't make sense for the human women of this world to protect them the way they do. they could take care of themselves." Continued Shima as she pursued me, she was genuinely puzzled.
Crap. I had forgotten that Men for the most part don't exactly exist on this world. However, based on what I have heard and the way that dude acted with Cobalt all those years ago. It's reasonable to think that the men of this world have nothing to with me. That means that they're different in the way they're and carry themselves. It would be bad if this battle junkie attacks one of those men and instantly kills him.
"I can tell you they and I are not the same. I'm a otherworld visitor after all Shima, so you must not think that what works with me will work with someone from this world." I shot back as I in turn pursued from my end, and I started to feel the fatigue set into me.
"Boring!"
""!""
I reflexively blocked the blade that had come from my blind spot. It was a black furred beast woman with amber yellow eyes which only became that much radiant under the sun. her entire body radiated blood lust and her will to fight covered the entire area like a predator telling all else to back off. every bird that had been chirping all around us had gone completely silent, time gave the illusion to have come to a stop.
"Rhea what are you doing?" I asked unable to keep in my irritation. "Lesson Three, the people in the audience aren't guaranteed to stay in the sidelines forever kid" Rhea answered cutting me off. she and Shima begun coming at me in earnest.
Damn it all. Why did this have to happen. Me and my big mouth had to ask for training and couldn't figure that a place this primitive wasn't going to be keen on books and basics from the get-go. I'm so tired. Staying up translating books for Raksha wasn't as easy as i made it out to be to Rhea though, but ultimately it was a useless endeavor since while i could make sense of what was written on the books. I wasn't privy to the grammar or how would one go about translating it as I told her earlier.
"I kind of figured you'd try something but remember I'm a newbie. You're going to kill me at this rate" I shouted back at the unreasonableness of these people. those books were pretty helpful though as I learned a little about the countries that are in the surroundings. The elves are a little further north than the Nosfalt Kingdom and that's something I am going to remember. An elven girlfriend it's number one in the bucket list for anyone travelling to another world.
"The world isn't an easy place to live kid. Never assume that no bystander be it a onlooker or the person who seems to be away from you casually chatting isn't going to come for your neck if they so desire it boy!" Hissed Rhea at my still cloudy face. It seems my thoughtful face probably made her think I wasn't taking this seriously.
"In the real world, nobody cares if you know how to fight or not. anyone who's coming for your neck will be walking away with it if you're unable to defend" Chorused Shima after her mother.
[Boom]
An earth-shattering explosion went off beneath the feet of both Rhea and Shima as they took different sides and approached me from different angles all too eager to drill their sense of battle into me. They understood that I only had seven days here in the village and were taking this a bit more seriously than I had. I should have clarified that all I wanted were pointers.
Richard rolled from side-to-side evading faster than he could think and threw hits from time to time. Richard was flabbergasted, do these women do not know how to instruct a pupil without killing him or what?
{Stomp]
[Slash]
[Crash]
[Slice]
[Stomp]
Rhea and Shima came at Richard from different angles. They slashed, stomped and threw logs at my directions which caused a lot of noise and crashing he never thought he'd see in his life. just how powerful were these women. All their attack would have severed a forklift at the very least back in my world.
I am a newbie damn it!
"H-Hold on! Let me rest" I shouted in frustration. "I-I can't keep going further, I think I'm going to throw up" I mentioned between gasps of air as I desperately dodged all their attacks in order to keep all my limbs attached and my very life.
"Are you trying to kill me" I shouted once again. "Kill you? Shima and I are going easy on you Kid. If we wanted to, you would be dead from the very beginning. Your death would have come for you long ago we are hunter's boy, as such our prey doesn't get the time to consider its options." said Rhea with a stern look in her face as she begun moving faster than she already had while a yellow film of energy like hue had begun circulating all around her body. the yellow film was almost imperceptible to the human eye but given that her fur was black and so were her robes, such a color stood our greatly. I wonder if that's some kind of magic.
Out of nowhere Rhea was right in front of me smiling as the rising sun was now behind her. Her black robes, jet black fur and amber yellow eyes looked like death itself to me. she then drew her sword and slashed at me faster than I could, so I attempted to catch the blade with my own but-"Here I am Richard" Came a bloodcurdling voice from behind me not knowing what to do I kicked at her desperately to avoid losing a limb and gain more time with distance.
"Nice!" said Rhea "But too slow" she continued slightly disappointed at she used the opportunity to deliver a kick of her own towards my chest.
"Guh"
I felt an extreme pressure on my chest as the air in my lungs was forcefully expelled all at one with a force so great, I thought my very lungs were going to exit through my nostrils. I can't breathe nor speak. My eyes widen as the seconds I spend on the air feel like minutes and all I can think off is my family and my older cry baby sister I left behind.
[G-gasp]
Eerie sounds escape my mouth as I struggle to breathe on my own. I have totally lost the will to fight, and I am overcome with panic and fear of my incoming death.
Richard flies through the air backwards as he is sent at a incredible speed with just one kick delivered by Rhea.
[CRASH]
I felt a dull impact on by back as I feel a wooden trunk shatter behind my landing. I can feel my consciousness slipping as both Rhea and Shima casually approach me with a grin on their faces. These women are even sorry about what they did I shout in my mind.
"Do you think we went too far mother?" asked Shima as she casually strode towards me with light footsteps and by her side was her mother Rhea who despite our little exchange didn't look ruffled at all." Nah, maybe a bit but the kid will get used to it" Answered Rhea with a smirk on her face.
"It's been a while since I found myself a new pupil after all" Rhea continued elated. "You're going to be something else one day" she finished. both Rhea and Shima gave me amused looks, similarly of those that a child would give when they've been handed a brand-new toy to play with. I had gotten myself in deep shit now.
The only thoughts that I could think right now is how I needed to get the hell away from these lunatics as my vision cut to black.
----------------------------------------------------------------
----Shima's POV
"Wake up kid" Rhea said after once again as she readied herself to throw water at the passed-out Richard who lay beneath my feet fully unconscious in a rather deplorable state. He'd been gun ho about learning ways to survive but I doubt this man imagine things would turn this way.
That said it is interesting. this man creature beneath my feet was able to keep up with me despite the fact that most of the villagers at our domain can't keep up with neither mom or I in a straight fight. even if it was a little, he did fend off mother and I and that got me very excited.
Ah, I can remember those ferocious violet eyes contrasting that black hair. He isn't as muscular as I am, but it will do. He's the first man I've ever seen and that sensation I can't forget it. I shivered with excitement because all my years in this village life has been nothing short of boring. So monotonous and without any excitement.
My hand unconsciously made it down south when I suddenly stopped myself. That thing on his crotch it goes here, right? is that how humans populate back in his world? Is this why those women from the Nosfalt Kingdom treat us like pests? To keep something like that away from us. I can feel every fiber of my body but based on what he said and what overheard mom talking about. The men on the human cities are meek and cute, aren't they?
[Splash]
Mother launches the water at Richard, and it lands on him, and you can see this time he isn't fully reacting to it the same way he did a bit ago when he was being embraced by Raksha. Little sis has a dominant personality beneath all that meekness, I can sense it and that's reassuring, I don't think I could bear to see the villagers disrespect her for being so meek.
That said. Even my mothers and I can't help but want to approach Richard. I can't feel nothing but lust in my being and a little jealousy at my sister's closeness with him but I got to shift my mind from that. Richard isn't going to stay with me on this village but no matter. I'm going to enjoy sparring with him I think to myself trying to subdue the lust and yearning I feel for this man.
[Gasp]
Ah, Richard has woken up. He is looking around himself looking awfully bewildered. I don't know why but ever since I've been in contact with him and saw my sister embrace him, I can't do anything but feel the urge to push him down.
"Watch it Shima" barked Rhea noticing my condition. "He's both our pupil and our guest. You will not harm him, You understand?" Continued Rhea as even as my mother gave me a bloodcurdling look that would have rendered the normal villager unconscious.
Her amber eyes were boring into me like they would a potential threat. Those weren't the eyes of a mother, not completely anyway. "I-I wasn't going to do anything Mom" I answered fast without thinking. I maybe be huge and all that, but Mom can put the fear of God into any warrior I bet. That's a wager I doubt I will ever lose.
"Not saying that you would but I have to let you know that no one is touching the kid on my watch, got it" He amber yellow eyes bore into me once again and felt my spine freeze to the degree that even the chills of the winter mornings had nothing on her.
"Guh, what happened?" asked Richard as he was still confused, and he got up albeit a bit wobbly and directed his gaze this way. His eyes shoot wide open and takes a couple of steps back. he was visibly shaken for a bit got a hold of his nerves quickly. That's some good adaptive behavior he got there.
"What's the matter kid?" Rhea says as she grabs on of his arms and being examining him for fractures. "Good, It seems my estimations were correct. After what you pulled yesterday blocking my and Shima's advances, I had a feeling you'd be okay".
I did too. I knew the moment he stopped my blade yesterday that he would be fine. In fact, that's one of the leading reasons why I find him very attractive. I wonder if he would be good to go later for another match. This was a lot of fun.
"Okay1?" shouted Richard. "I could have ended up paralyzed and possibly dead. What kind of teacher goes at his student without warning expecting him to just do fine without dying" continued Richard devolving into a rant that made is white skin turn pink. He was visibly upset, and I could see he was very enraged.
I approach him and also grabbed his shoulder firmly and made him look my way. "Calm down Richard. You're here for only seven days remember. There are very few things that can be thought in a very short amount of time got it?" I spoke firmly to him.
"Y-yeah" he answered settling down and inhaling enough air to calm himself down. "Fine but I need food, I'm starving right now." continued
"You'll eat soon enough. That was a great workout. Today I'll ingrain every part of your body with proper reflexes. Even if I can't go into detail about how to fight. If you encounter anyone hostile to you and they attack you. Your body will naturally do the rest kid."
"T-today?" asked Richard visibly pale. "You mean the whole day will be about fighting" he asked to confirm. "Yep" I answered with a smile. "Isn't that fun, we will get to spend time crossing blades. Isn't that fantastic Richard" I asked with a elated voice as I try looking into his eyes, but his violet eyes shivered a bit, and his body stiffened.
"What's wrong kid?" asked mother. "You know this is necessary right. Otherwise, any old bandit is going to have your head and to be honest. teaching you is going to be a lot of fun. this village doesn't have many talents on the ways of the warrior and you're shaping gup to be a great pupil." Mother said elated. "Right Shima?" she asked for confirmation.
"Yup. Only Silva somewhat kept me amused but she wasn't enough. I'm looking forward to our spars Richard. Tomorrow will be something a little different than to today I can guarantee that to you." I added.
Richard's shoulders drooped in disappointment. He sighed and decided to follow us as we walked towards the scent of food. Mother Pam had been cooking all this time as we sparred with one another.
"so tell me Richard. Did you managed to translate all those books for Raksha now?" I asked with genuine interest as the ground beneath our feet crunched under, the weight of our bodies added with the small stones cracked the ground. All around us was silent and very few villagers were going about their day doing menial tasks ignoring our existence altogether.
It's nice to see they're listening to me. "Well, I sort of Translated them, Shima." what do you mean sort off?" asked Mother as she lifted her head and tilted it as her ears perked up and scanned the surrounding. "I mean I understand what it says and can explain it but I can't teach the mechanics of the language as if to have Raksha become fluent on the language" explained Richard with a puzzled look on his eyes.
"That means what exactly?" I had to ask since he wasn't making much sense. If you can understand it, then it should be possible to teach it right? "It's a lot like when someone tells you a complicated word and get you to say it properly without teaching you the foundations, so you'd be unable to write it" Continued Richard.
"You mean like when someone makes sound effects to describe an action. Like when you stomp on a log?" I asked for confirmation. "I wasn't thinking of anything so violent but I think you get the idea. While I understand what is there on the books and read it, I don't know the way to teach it to another person." continued Richard.
We continued walking for a while and we eventually got to Mother Pam and we ate breakfast. Then we got back to fighting and kept at it until sundown. It was truly a fantastic day.
-------------------------------------------------
---Later that day.
"Man, I'm tired." I mumbled to myself as I dragged my beaten-up body mustering what little will power, I had left. Rhea and Shima do not the words SELF RESTRAINT. everything hurts and my limbs feel like they're about to literally fall off. I've been struck almost everywhere in my body; I think I might have pulled a muscle. I can feel my tendons scream as I do menial things like walking under the setting sun in the village of Heim.
Rhea got her fill and left to the baths with Shima who joined her, both of them were glowing with the radiance of holy women from ancient legends or fairy tales. I can't believe that beating me to a pulp would have such a rejuvenating effect on those lunatics. I can feel every muscle and fiber of my being screamed and let me know that if I relaxed even a little all the muscles in my body would collapse into a cramp.
"This is why I wanted to be given time to stretch damn it." I said irritated as a copper haired woman came into view. she was wearing brown robes. She was standing below a cabin looking my way with an interested look on her face.
Richard was drained from the beating he had endured all day. the sadism from both Rhea and Shima couldn't be understated. In all this Silva one of the wolf beast women that had come to his unveiling the day prior had now showed herself to him. Pam was nowhere to be found but was back at the cabin making food for the family.
The entire village had been ignoring Richard. They didn't know he was a man and Rhea preferred it that way. After what happened with Shima when she smelled his pheromones, she couldn't risk an entire village coming after Richard. Pam definitely didn't consider it fun to have to contend with both Rhea and Shima after they almost gone feral after all.
"Yō, You're Richard, right?" said Silva. "You're the new person in the village, you looked startled then, but I can see some confidence in you". said Silva as her Ruby like eyes bored into me. Her copper-colored fur looked almost picturesque under the setting sun. unlike the self-important smile the other had. her smile had more warmth into hers. She had the look of a mischievous child.
"A-ah, You're silva right?" I asked to make sure. she was about the same height than Raksha, but she was more muscular. "Did you need anything?" I pressed.
Silva stood straight and gave me a smile and answered. "Well, I heard you're leaving in 6 days now. I'm thinking I want to get to know you as well. Raksha seems awfully attached yaw know?" She asked as she was an old friend as she brought her arms around my shoulders. She then begun escorting me and taking me in the direction of the village chief.
"If you get the time, do you want to hang out?" Asked silva. "I like listening to stories of other lands you know" she said as she walked alongside me. I was significantly taller than her but not by much. being with her made me feel more at ease since Shima is so damn tall it makes me feel a little awkward.
I made my way into the village chiefs house and looked at her from a glance and spoke. "Well tomorrow is supposed to be a day about scouting and what not so maybe I won't be as battered as I am today, Deal?" I somewhat felt close to her. Silva had an energy that makes her quite approachable. I like her a lot.
"Sure. Can I call you Rick?" she said a little shily as her tail swished from side to side? her ruby yes shimmered under the sunlight. "Hahaha, I never been called Rick before so sure thing" I said.
I soon left her side and walked with a lighter step towards my dinner. It seems tomorrow will be a fantastic day. I do wonder why Shima and Rhea warned me about her. She is very friendly and didn't feel any hidden intent. thinking so I made my way inside.
