level 5
Alice cooked a meal. She began by making lobster bisque, but she noticed that there was no sherry in the kitchen. Instead, she decided to use white wine as a substitute. In other words, she gave up using sherry. Alice then added the lobster shells, let them simmer for a while, removed the shells, and strained the soup. Afterward, she added the pre-cut lobster meat and seasoned it with salt and pepper, completing the first course.
However, at the same time, she was progressing with the main dish, so by the time the lobster bisque was ready, the main course was almost finished as well. The main dish was beef fillet, and Alice used store-bought sauce as the finishing touch. Making the sauce from scratch would have taken too much time, and that was Alice's reason for not doing it for the beef fillet.
In addition, this time, instead of rice or bread, she decided to serve mashed potatoes as a side dish. Mashed potatoes are quick to chew, filling, and can be paired with the leftover sauce. Alice, mindful of presentation, cut the vegetables she had bought at a nearby farmers' market to an appropriate size and placed them next to the potatoes.
Then, with a sense of accomplishment, Alice slowly enjoyed her meal at the table, appreciating the dishes lined up in front of her.
