第9話 Departure

I don’t know how much time passed, but I felt something wrapping my burning body and raised my face.

But there was nothing like it in my sight, my older sister and my brother’s hands turned to my shoulders were sweating.

Because I didn’t understand, I looked around the room away from them.

Then, it seemed that she was smiling in an old photograph and a portrait whose foster mother’s will was hidden.

I had a doubt of my eyes as if she was on the spot.

But I had reason to argue that illusion for some reason.

It was strange that she had already passed.

I forcibly change my mind and urge my sister and older brother to raise their faces.

At that time, I noticed tears had accumulated in my glasses.

I take off my glasses, wipe it with the sleeves of my shirt and hang up my glasses.

“Sister, Brother, I think…”

They may have perceived what I’m about to say.

They change the color of their eyes as tears retreat.

“Yoichi, if you’re so impatient, you will be balding up soon.”

“…Then, how do you think?”

They ask me, I exhale deeply.

“After all, we should live as others, as my mother said.”

“What are you saying, Yoichi?

We finally made it…”

Perhaps they were thinking about what went wrong with the will of my foster mother, to live as brothers, after being flushed by passion.

They suspect their ears and wrinkles are carved between the eyebrows.

Especially my sister can see the blood rising on her head.

I rushed into the abdominal muscles before she burned her voice with burning emotions.

“At least I think that we’re overly concerned about adoption and blood relations, that we all have become isolated.”

I thank the school committee members who served many times during my school days and continue my speech claim.

“I don’t deny our childhood we spent as brothers-in-law. So…”

“So why?

Were we finally able to become real brothers, do you need to bother to become a stranger?”

When I shake it deliberately, my sister caught my mouth, and my argument is interrupted.

I think she is more shorter than I, but if I mention that, Taichi will get up.

My sister’s voice echoes from a long ago.

I signed as to how to explain next, I saw my brother who was not able to match his eyes for many years.

With eyelash wearing and staring at me I gazed at the eyes, I turned thirty years old to feel the essence of my brother.

He is sensitive to the air of the place and hearts of people, yet patient.

Even if our sister repeatedly touched him, he never got against it, he always fell a step and never raised his hands no matter how I looked down.

When we were young, he played with a chamberra, a catch ball and so on according to me who is a boy.

That is because he cherishes sisters and brothers only in us.

Akio Tsutsumi isn’t just frightened.

He is kind to my brother.

And he is smarter than anyone else.

“Sister, listen to Yoichi to the last minute…please.”

I guess he was still reading my argument.

He fearfully aimed our sister and lowered his head for me.

She can’t hide the surprise in his words and she claps her voice to hiccup.

I’ll open my mouth again in that gap.

“From now on, we support each other as three people, not as brothers.

Here, is there a proverb? Well sure…”

“”Other people closer than distant relatives” is not it?

I know about that. But it’s…”

She pinched her mouth twice with a tired expression, but this time she breathes in the middle of refutation.

‘Yoichi, no way…?”

I’m convinced she finally noticed, I spread my eyes and shake my head wide and vertically.

“Yes, we have been this proverb something from long ago. In a bad way.

But Sister, Brother, from now on we will live the same proverb in a good way.

Our mother surely wanted to tell it.”

I feel increased in the words I said and grab my first on the jacket that covers the upper body.

Looking with the eyes with which heat caught, they have been crying.

My brother has a face that doesn’t become a perfect woman even with false eyelashes, but it’s strange as it looks like a real sister when lined up with his sister.

“Yoichi, you’re saying great things, but do you know what you call us?”

“”Sister” and “Brother.”

I can call any way, though.”

“But, Akio…you were called an Okama and you got hurt indeed?

That…I’m sorry.”

“Something like that!

Because I’m just worried about you…Sister, you’re just nervous, but it will be tough if the hair turns white at that age.”

They laugh so gently that I never saw before.

I felt like I had a glimpse of their future happiness, I got caught up and cheeks rose.

“Ah! You say such a thing and call her “Sister.””

I think that his voice was so calm and clear voice, I’ll do it to him.

“Yoichi, also…”

“What are you talking about!”

We had a funny conversation with three people and we gave a shivering laugh at my throat.

The negative spells that had dominated us had disappeared unnoticed.

It was a day when three of us became true brothers and became friends with one heart, too.

Looking up at the night sky from the window, many stars were shining brightly.

Taichi woke up with the voice of us, he was looking at the same star from another window.

Under the same roof.
